Giving to Christ Church

Part of Christian discipleship is giving. Of ourselves first of all to God and then sharing what we have with others in terms of our talents and gifts but also financially in support of the work of the church.  We note that Paul writes to the church at Corinth about giving and says "You must each decide in your heart how much to give.  And don't give reluctantly or in response to pressure.  For God loves a person who gives cheerfully." (2 Corinthians 9:7 NLT).

What is not always understood is that there is no state or other external funding to support either the ministry of Christ Church in terms of its clergy or of the building and its contents.  Everything is paid for through Sunday collections and through direct giving to the church's bank account by church members.  We have no reserves from past generations either so it is those who are part of the church today who provide for the church's ministry today.

The church has a collection plate at the back available on Sundays.  However, we would very much like to encourage you to support the work of the church through the setting up of a bank standing order.  If you would prefer to make one-off donations to the church bank account then of course this is also fine.  Identification of yourself as a tax payer (if this is the case) is also helpful as this will enable us to claim tax back from the UK government as we are a registered charity.  For more information please contact the church's Treasurer Tony Wood who can be contacted by email by clicking here.

For general reference the church's bank account is as follows:

Bank:  Lloyds bank, Shanklin
Sort code: 30-97-42
Account name:
PCC Christchurch
Account number 00082363

We would like to thank everyone who gives generously to the work of Christ Church.  Without you what we do would not be possible.  You may also like to read what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 8:1-15 which is a challenge and encouragement to all of us in the area of giving.
