Thy Kingdom Come
Between Ascension Day (Thursday 10 May) and Pentecost Sunday (20 May) special activities will be taking place to encourage prayer, to pray for the parish of Sandown and for the wider world. This is a global initiative supported by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York and more locally by Bishop Christopher, Bishop of Portsmouth. By clicking here you can connect with the global website. By clicking here you can contact with the Diocesan website.
The local plans for the 10 day period include:
Evening Prayer Services
Every day during the period a short service of Evening Prayer will be held at 5pm. Afterwards the church will be open for you to continue your own personal prayer.
Special Prayer Day
On Saturday 19 May will be a special day devoted to prayer. The day will start with the church's regular monthly prayer time at 9.30am (which will include coffee/tea and croissants) and at 10.15 am we will set off on a short walk to various locations around the parish to pray for the schools, businesses, care homes and those who live and work in the area. If you would like to join in you would be very welcome.
At 7.30pm a united celebration with all the churches across Sandown Bay is being held at Rylstone Gardens. Christ Church is leading the worship. Please plan to be there if you can.
Please take the opportunity to join us as we pray "Thy Kingdom Come"
