Christ Church Sandown
Holy week (14 April to 21 April) is a very special time in the Church calendar as we follow the last days of the life of Jesus culminating in His resurrection to life which we celebrate on Easter day. You would be very welcome to join in as we remember, reflect and celebrate.
We remember Jesus as he heads into Jerusalem knowing that there he will be condemned and crucified. The crowds shout "Hosanna" which means "save now" but it is an acclamation of praise as people's clothes and branches from the trees are laid in front of him. We will be distributing palm crosses to everyone to remind us of this event and reflecting upon the last of our question of life sermon series on the question "Triumphant?".
Traditionally this is the time we remember the last supper. We are having a cooked meal for all the family as part of which we will remember how the disciples ate together with Jesus for the last time.
With activities suitable for all ages we will be reflecting on the death of Jesus on the cross. Hot cross buns will also be eaten!
We celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. The service will be suitable for the whole family. It will include Holy Communion and for the children there may be some Easter eggs to be found!
