Christ Church Sandown
Welcome to this service
for use at home on Easter Day. Happy
Easter!
If you are reading this before
10am we would encourage you to sing the hymns "Jesus Christ is Risen Today" and "Thine be the glory"
outside your home at that time. Click here for the words to these two hymns.
The
service order below includes YouTube links to Mark’s message for the day, an Easter
communion celebration led by Mark from his home and links to songs/hymns which include
lyrics so that you are able to join in (if you know the song and have a favourite version you are welcome to link to that instead).
The songs chosen are typical of those we would generally sing on this
day at Christ Church.
Acclamation: The Lord is risen.
Alleluia! Please feel free to shout
aloud “He is risen indeed. Alleluia!”
Opening song: “He has risen” Here is
a link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwLR1BGmZSw
Opening prayer: We praise you
today O lord for your coming into the world to be our saviour. We praise you today that you did not stay in
the grave but rose again from the dead. We praise you today that because you
live you are the resurrection and the life for all who trust in you, that death
has lost its sting and that we shall not perish but have eternal life. Amen.
Reading: In your bible please read the passage set for the day which is
John 20:1-18.
Worship songs: There are two
songs this morning:
“The moon and the stars they wept”. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pj8-jb0mgKs; and
“Happy Day” Here is the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ixN8BuqVmQ
Message: Here is the link to
Mark’s Easter Day message: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUhE9DEqFco
Hymn: “See what a morning”. Here is a link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0aKC3KxTb0
Prayers: The communion service today includes the collect for the
day and the Lord’s prayer. We though
spend time interceding for others. You
may wish to pray for:
Those in leadership at
this time in responding to Corvid-19, central and local government, business
leaders, the Queen and royal family;
Those who are key workers, including
medical staff and carers;
Those who have the virus at home, those ill in hospital
including those there for non-virus related reasons;
Those who mourn;
For those in self-isolation particularly those
who live alone.
For family
members and friends and specific concerns you may have.
A prayer you may wish to use often attributed to St Francis of Assisi is set
out below:
Lord, make us
instruments of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let us sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that we may not so much seek to be
consoled
as to console,
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned
and it is in dying that we are born to
eternal life. Amen
Hymn: “Jesus Christ is risen today”. Here is a link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6sj9ljVsfk
Easter Communion: Here is the
link to this part of our service. The
video contains all the words that you will need to join in: www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MR45yD0LVE
Closing hymn: Our final hymn can
be none other than this one. You may
like to wave a flag or some other item whilst singing this song. “Thine be the glory”. Here is the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaoV5w2Qfag
A final pause: Take a moment to consider what Jesus went through for you
in this last week as we have followed him to the cross and now to his
resurrection. Consider your response to
God and how he would have you live for him from now on. We go out in peace to love and serve the Lord
in the name of Christ. Amen.
